Our usual offers are suspended as we have absorbed all the extra costs involved in making the Clinic 'COVID safe'
This includes purchasing some expensive equipment to sanitise the rooms and PPE plus we have reduced our capacity to ensure there is only one client on the premises at any time.
We have also suspended the option to book and pay for courses in advance. This is to be fair to all parties.

The Chase CACI Clinic is growing - Do you want to be part of it?

Over that last Four years the double award - winning Chase CACI Clinic has grown in all the important areas. The owner Pam Smith is a Nurse with many years’ experience. Her caring ethos has transferred naturally to the aesthetics environment, along with her many nursing skills. This is evidenced by our ever expanding loyal and happy client group who not only keep coming back, but also recommend us to their friends.
The time has now come to look for a new person to join our team to help us meet the ever - increasing demand for the services we offer. Could it be you? This would ideally suit a nurse or experienced beautician (at least Level 3 qualification). The whole concept of the Clinic is built around flexibility, whilst providing a first - class service. We operate an ‘appointments only’ system which means both we and our clients can plan their days.
The range of equipment we have has also grown. We now have three CACI machines, plus electrolysis, oxygen, radiofrequency and LED light therapy machines. There are also several smaller items of equipment to enhance our provision of treatments.
The products we use have been very carefully researched in order that we can recommend them to our clients. The main product groups we use are:
‘Heaven by Deborah Mitchell’ which is regularly endorsed by many high - profile individuals and produces excellent results
The ‘Tropic’ range is Vegan Friendly and certified by The Vegan Society,
Cruelty Free International and PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals).
In addition, we use the Medik8 brand of Cosmeceutical products which are clinical grade.
The location of the clinic is rural and tranquil, with easy access. Inside, all rooms are very tastefully fitted out. There are three treatment rooms, a reception area and a waiting room plus toilet with a luxury show and a kitchen. The whole aura is one of relaxation, which both we and our visitors enjoy immensely.
If you are interested in joining our happy band of therapists and clients, please do not hesitate to contact the proprietor Pam Smith (see facing page for details). We will arrange a visit to show you around and meet everyone involved.

'Spring will soon be upon us'

We are now in March and Spring is fast approaching, the time is right to prepare our skin for spring and summer.
We all know that winter weather is not fun for skin. Cold weather and low humidity levels result in dry air, which then steals moisture away from the skin every second of every day. Central heating further robs the air of moisture, as do hot showers or baths and harsh cleansers. Your skin not only needs more moisture, but moisture immediately after you wash. Applying moisture to damp skin helps seal that dampness into the skin. Keep a bottle near the bath or shower. During the night, your skin is at its most receptive to the effects of good skincare, so make sure you load it with nourishment.
We tend to drink less water in the winter because we turn to hot drinks like coffee and tea, but don’t forget that your skin needs hydration from the inside, out. A little warm water with lemon can be very refreshing and hydrating at the same time.
The skin is composed of three layers: epidermis (top), dermis (middle) and hypodermis (lower). The epidermis takes most of the direct forces of nature and benefits from being moisturised as a protective layer. However, the dermis also benefits from moisturising. We often forget to help the skin cast dead cells in the winter, particularly on our hands. Moisture can’t get in if there are too many dead cells. An exfoliating mask used on your face followed immediately with a moisturiser will truly make a difference to the smoothness and resilience of the skin.
We have promoted the benefits of regular exfoliation. This is something that, really, you should be doing all year round to give yourself a better chance of a clear, radiant skin. Exfoliation becomes even more important in the colder winter months. Whilst exfoliation won’t rid you of all your winter skin problems, it will certainly help skin absorb moisture and alleviate the negative effects of too many dead skin cells.

Most people are aware of all these facts, to a greater or lesser extent, but perhaps not so aware of the wide range of treatments and products available to counteract the potential damage that may occur in the winter.
Here at the Chase CACI Clinic we have a number of treatments and products that can help you look after your skin and keep it in tip – top condition all year round.
The CACI Ultimate Special Occasion Facial is a perfect example of what we have to offer. It makes use of Microdermabrasion and a hydrating mask to prepare and nourish the skin. The CACI Ultimate Hand Treatment performs a similar task for the hands.
We also stock a range of superb products that will both feed and protect your skin. These include the World renowned ‘Heaven’ products by Deborah Mitchell and the vegan friendly range of Tropic Skin Care products.

Finally, a quote from one of our client after a CACI Ultimate Special Occasion Facial:
‘Just wanted to let you know my face felt and looked so good yesterday from the facial. What products did you use on my face? It hasn't looked that good in years.’
Every month we have a range of special offers to introduce new clients to what we can do with our CACI machines, other superb equipment and top of the range products and say ‘thank you’ to our many regular clients for their support.

‘Putting your Face First so your Looks Last’

It’s January and we are now well into the cold, damp and windy months of winter and skin needs protection. The Chase CACI Clinic has the finest equipment, the best products and knowledgeable, caring staff. Add all this together and you have the perfect recipe to look after your skin throughout the year; come rain or shine.
Over the last three years we have invested in top quality equipment, all of which has been selected to ensure that our clients receive the best combination treatments possible.
This month we would like to explain in a little more detail about our range of CACI machines and what they are capable of doing.
The ‘CACI’ (Computer Aided Cosmetology Instrument) Micro-current treatment has been available in the U.K. for cosmetic purposes since the early 1990s. Tiny micro-currents of electricity are used to stimulate facial or other muscles in the body. The stimulation at this level is known as sub-sensory, meaning that you feel very little, if anything at all, and there is no sign of any visible muscle contraction. The muscles are gently exercised, leading to an increase in the production of protein. This tightens and firms up the muscles, reduces slackness and restores a firmer shape and tone to the face or area treated.
The CACI Ultimate really was the first treatment system to combine Microcurrent Facial Toning, Crystal Free orbital Microdermabrasion and LED Light Therapy Photo Stimulation. The CACI Ultimate is a truly versatile treatment system. The system’s multifunctional capabilities enable The Chase CACI Clinic to offer the most comprehensive range of non-surgical treatment options. The microcurrent toning phase uses a combination of specific waveforms and ultra - low frequencies that work in harmony with the body’s own bio-electrical field to provide an instant face firming effect. Orbital Microdermabrasion utilizes tips coated with a layer of silicon carbide to gently exfoliate the skin.
The Ultimate touch screen display features 45 pre-set treatment programs and an automatic sequential treatment mode for softening lines and wrinkles, facial toning, hand rejuvenation, sun damage skin hydration, stretchmarks and acne/blemish treatment. A unique wrinkle comb applicator combining the synergy of LED red and blue Light Therapy stimulation and high frequency Microcurrent is used to instantly plump out and soften deep lines and wrinkles thereby providing a needle free alternative to collagen injections and other dermal fillers.

The CACI Quantum system features of the CACI face lifting system but goes a step further, by enabling clients to enjoy the dual benefits of the non-surgical facelift whilst at the same time receiving a total body toning experience. Featuring 24 separate body toning pad outlets, the CACI Quantum has pre-programmed modes for slimming, contouring, cellulite and lymphatic drainage.

The CACI Futur-Tec system was developed over a period of 12 years research and study in the field of aesthetics; it utilises a mechanical exfoliating treatment to give skin an instant boost. The non-invasive and non-abrasive treatment combines skin regeneration technology to cleanse, brighten and hydrate. With its remarkable softening action on surface lines and wrinkles, and can be used to treat surface pigmentation and scarring. The Ultrasonic wave actuator can be used on sensitive skins for example Rosacea.

Every month we have a range of special offers to introduce new clients to what we can do with our CACI machines, other superb equipment and top of the range products and say ‘thank you’ to our many regular clients for their support.
The Clinic is discreet and relaxing, why wait - visit our website, email, or give us a call if you have any queries, or to book your free consultation.

Moisturise, Moisturise, Moisturise

The official start of winter is December 21st, during this time we experience cold, wet and windy weather and then, when we come indoors, the central heating is turned up high to warm us up again! These two extremes combine to have a potentially very negative effect on our skin. Now is the time to prepare and protect your skin for the cold months ahead. We spend huge amounts of money at gyms to make our bodies fit and healthy for the summer then cover them up for the rest of the year. Our faces are permanently exposed to nature; surely we should devote a little more time and effort to make them fit and healthy too, ready for next summer? The huge technological and scientific advances that have been made over recent years help us; the ravages of time and the ‘dirty’ modern world that we inhabit can be mitigated to a high degree.
The Chase CACI Clinic provides a balanced approach, ensuring that all clients are given up to date information regarding available treatments in a caring and tranquil environment. The client then discusses a personal treatment plan with their practitioner to provide a mutually agreed outcome. We specialise in this unique approach to ‘Bespoke Packages’ – no two are alike and each one is tailored to the needs and wishes of each and every client. Our extensive stable of top of the range equipment, world renowned products and caring staff allows us to make this claim.
We now have CACI Ultimate, Quantum and Futur Tec machines, each of which has their own individual specialist treatments that cater not only for the face but also for the body. The Apilus Pur Electrolysis machine can help with unwanted hair, milia and skin tags. The Radio Frequency equipment stimulates the production of collagen and the Crystal Clear Oxygen machine infuses pure Oxygen into the skin. Our very latest addition; The Neo Elegance LED mask uses photon therapy which harnesses the natural healing power of light. The LED face mask treatment works on the skin at the cellular level, targeting a variety of skin issues – acne, ageing and pigmentation. Transforming the skin from the inside out!
We also offer Medik8 (skinrolla) which makes use of microneedling techniques. Skin needling is a non-invasive skin rejuvenation procedure that enhances the skin’s ability to regenerate and repair itself naturally and safely, with minimal recovery time. The specially designed device dramatically increases production of the skin’s natural components such as collagen and elastin, creating younger looking skin. The precision engineered microneedles penetrate through the epidermis and pin prick the dermis, inducing the skin’s natural healing response. This leads to new collagen formation and tissue remodelling.

To have this extensive range of equipment and treatments at our disposal allows us to finely tune the ‘Bespoke Packages’ that we offer. It may seem a little daunting when you look at the amount of choice – this is where skills and caring ethos of our staff come into play to guide you through the myriad of options available. We then add the very finest of products, notably ‘Heaven by Deborah Mitchell’ into the equation to provide a complete service to all our clients.
At The Chase CACI Clinic we are looking forward to a wonderful 2018 whilst looking back on 2017 and the amazing experience it has been; we can reflect on very satisfying results and positive feedback. We are very proud of our retention rate for clients, many of whom are now firm friends.

Cool, detached and obstinate
Underneath their cool, calm and collected exterior are determined individuals. They will let others get close, but only so close as they want them; there is no such thing as an open-book Taurean.

Reserved and withdrawn
Their feelings, fears and desires often run far deeper than anyone around them would guess. That's why Taureans are sometimes regarded as snobby, withdrawn, boring, or even sulky.

Love of Luxury
Most Taureans like their creature comforts and hate change because it takes them out of their automatic pilot condition of separating themselves from the world around them.

Sensual, devoted and kind
They deal well with the personal, physical senses and consequently all the pleasures associated with them, often being nature and pet lovers,

Multi-talented
Geminis are multi-faceted souls who enjoy knowing a little bit of everything but generally not too much about one particular subject. It's just that variety is the spice of their lives! And no one is better at multi-tasking than the quixotic Gemini.

Communicators:
Geminis have also gained the reputation of being the incessant talkers of the zodiac. Those that don't have the 'gift of the gab' are usually talented writers or have a special interest in foreign languages.

Adventurous and full of fun:
Another reason Geminis evoke so much interest is many born under this sign are multi-dimensionally talented.

Here at the ‘Double Award Winning’ Chase CACI Clinic we are also cool and calm but determined to ensure that everyone who visits us has a rewarding experience. We pride ourselves in being good communicators with a wide range of skills to use our machines and products to their full potential.
We are CACI specialists and have two of their top machines: The Ultimate and The Quantum. Both can do the mainstream CACI facials and additional unique treatments. The CACI facial treatments are the only ones that regularly score ’10 out of 10’ when tested by both Consumer and Trade publications.
The Crystal-Clear Oxygen machine infuses oxygen into the skin which helps to restore elasticity and firmness, Radio Frequency stimulates collagen and elastin in the skin. The ‘Heaven’ products we use also have a regenerative effect. We also stock ‘Tropic’ products which are approved by the Vegan Society
The combination of these incredible machines, superb products and the skills of our nurse and therapist have produced some marvellous results.

‘The times they are a changing'
We are very proud to announce that we have won another award – the AI award as ‘Best Aesthetic Care Specialists – Midlands’. What makes this award so special to us is that we understand we were nominated by a client and part of the process involved mystery shoppers – we must be getting it right. We would like to thank all our clients for their support during the first two years of The Chase CACI Clinic.
Continuing the theme of looking at the Twelve Signs of the Zodiac for April; exploring Aries and Taurus. Being born on the first or last day of a sign, in astrological terms, means being born on a cusp. Thus, there is a benefit from reading that sign and that following or preceding.

March 21st - April 19th
Element: Fire
Ruling Planet: Mars
Symbol: The Ram
Stone: Diamond

Child at heart
Their faith in life and the future remains untouched by hardship; they are always children at heart and the world is always a magical place.

Many famous sports people are born under this sign. Aries is regarded as the most physical sign because of its Mar's ruler ship; it is also one of the most highly charged energy signs. No wonder women born under Aries are forceful, dynamic and aggressive.

Sometime Confusing
Aries can be a confusing sign because there is a complex combination of very strong masculine and feminine expressions all combined. Women born under Aries are some of the most interesting in the world; adventurous, independent with a competitive nature and often very forthright.

More Astrology Traits and Personality

NEW YEAR - New Theme
Welcome to 2017, in 2016 we looked at some quite interesting facts surrounding the name and history of each month. This year we thought it would be equally as interesting to look at the Twelve Signs of the Zodiac; exploring the traits attributed to each. Being born on the first or last day of a sign, in astrological terms, means being born on a cusp. Thus, there is a benefit from reading that sign and the sign that follows or precedes.
Each month is ‘home’ to two Signs of the Zodiac, for January these are Capricorn and Aquarius.

Responsible and Reliable:
The rulership of Saturn - the planet representing responsibility, structure and hard work - ensures that Capricorns in their truest of expression, are ambitious, practical and superb organizers. As a friend, Capricorns can be relied upon to provide the strongest and most sympathetic pair of shoulders in the zodiac.

Prepare and Protect your skin for the cold months ahead
December got its name from the Latin word decem (meaning ten) because it was originally the tenth month of the year in the Roman calendar, which began in March. The winter days following December were not included as part of any month. Later, the months of January and February were created out of the monthless period and added to the beginning of the calendar, but December retained its name.
The zodiac signs for the month of December are Sagittarius (until December 21) and Capricorn (December 22 onwards), its birthstones are the turquoise, zircon, and tanzanite and birth flower the narcissus, in addition Poinsettia is also closely associated with Christmas
Some Quite Interesting facts about December:
• The Anglo Saxons called it ‘Winter Monath’ or ‘Yule Monath’ because of the custom of burning Yule logs around this time.
• Many Anglo Saxons became Christians; they then called it ‘Heligh Monath’ meaning ‘Holy Month’ as the birth of Jesus is celebrated on December 25th.
• To counter the “melancholy and phlegm” brought on by December, Richard Saunders, writing in 1679, recommended eating cabbage, onion and roasted apples or pears after meat.
• Orville Wright made first heavier-than-air flight at Kitty Hawk, on December 17th 1903.
• Edward VIII of Great Britain abdicated, December 11th 1936.
• John Lennon shot and killed in New York City, December 8th 1980.
• In 1647 Oliver Cromwell, English Puritan leader, banned the festivities of Christmas for being seen as immoral on such a holy day. Anyone who was seen celebrating was arrested! The ban was lifted in 1660.

Finally, and perhaps most importantly:
• Scientists calculated that Santa would have to visit 822 homes a second to deliver all the world's presents on Christmas Eve, travelling at 650 miles a second.

Here at the Chase CACI Clinic we are well equipped to help you with this. We have superb equipment, the finest products and dedicated therapists.
The ‘Heaven’ Bee Sting Facial is a superb way to hydrate and protect your skin, it makes use of the ‘Heaven’ range of products (including Manuka Honey) to produce outstanding results. The CACI Hydratone mask is a deep hydration treatment containing Rose Water and which occurs naturally in the skin to aid retention of moisture.
The most recent addition to our stable of equipment – The ‘Crystal Clear’ Oxygen machine is proving very popular. ‘Crystal Clear’ Pulsed Jet Oxygen is an intense anti-ageing treatment that plumps the skin from the inside out; it delivers pulsed oxygen which, in conjunction with the ‘Crystal Clear’ Serum rejuvenates skin and visibly reduce lines and wrinkles.
We stock the ‘Tropic’ range of skincare products and make up, which is approved by
both the Vegan Society and Cruelty Free International which is also very popular
with our clients.

Keep your skin moisturised when the leaves dry up
November is the eleventh and penultimate month of the year in the Julian and Gregorian Calendars and one of four months with 30 days. November's birthstones are the topaz (particularly, yellow) which symbolizes friendship and the citrine, its birth flower is the chrysanthemum. October was originally the eighth month of the Roman calendar (from the Latin octō meaning "eight"). It always had a length of 31 days and became the tenth month of the year when King Numa Pompilius reformed the calendar and added the months of January and February around 700 BCE.

Autumn is officially here!
September is the ninth month of the year in the Julian and Gregorian Calendars. September (from Latin septem, "seven") was originally the seventh of ten months in the Roman calendar, with March (Latin Martius) the first month of the year until perhaps as late as 153 BC.
After the calendar reform that added January and February to the beginning of the year, September became the ninth month, but retained its name. It had 29 days until the Julian reform, which added a day. In 1752, the British Empire adopted the Gregorian calendar; that year September 2 was immediately followed by September 14.
In the Northern hemisphere, the beginning of the meteorological autumn is on 1st September. In the Southern hemisphere, the beginning of the meteorological spring is on 1st September.
September's birthstone is the sapphire, it’s birth flowers for are the forget-me-not, morning glory and aster. The zodiac signs are Virgo and Libra whose end and start are related to equinox date (usually 22 or 23 September).

July - the month of contentment and independance
The month of July was named after Julius Caesar by a decision of the Roman Senate in 44BC as July was the month of his birth, before that it had been known as Quintilis (fifth) as it was the fifth month in the old calendar. In the Julian and then Gregorian calendars it became the seventh month of the year.
Some quite interesting facts about July:
July’s birthstone is the ruby, which is said to symbolise contentment, the birth flowers are the Larkspur or the Water Lily and the zodiac signs are Cancer or Leo
In Anglo Saxon times names for the month included: Heymonath (Hay month) and Maed Monath (Meadow Month).
July starts on the same weekday as April every year.
Seven US presidents have died in July, which is more than any other month.
In America it is Baked Beans Month, Ice Cream Month, Hot Dog Month and Blueberries Month – that’s lunch sorted!
There are many varied days of celebration in July; one of the most famous being the Fourth of July - Independence Day in the USA, commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, by the Continental Congress declaring that the thirteen American colonies regarded themselves as a new nation, the United States of America, and no longer part of the British Empire. However, the legal separation of the Thirteen Colonies from Great Britain occurred on July 2, 1776

At the Chase CACI Clinic we are here to increase your levels of contentment and independence. The treatments we offer all contribute to a positive and healthy outlook on life. When we know we look our best it can give increased confidence. Our combination therapies help reduce lines, increase collagen production and give a healthy glow to the skin. The CACI Quantum machine can, in addition, help to tone and firm thighs, buttocks and stomachs.
The Heaven Bee Venom products are producing wonderful outcomes. We are excited to have been one of the first clinics to offer the latest Heaven treatment: the ‘Heaven Bee Peel’. This is an advanced variable and progressive treatment equivalent to an 18% Glycolic Peel, in other words a light chemical peel. The difference is that naturally occurring bee venom is being used to produce the results. Both Pam and Becky are delighted with the results and are using the peel themselves.
We are also delighted with the results that we are achieving with the ‘Fillerina’; a topical non - invasive filler. It works by using a syringe to apply the product directly into the lines that the client wishes to be reduced. Excellent results are being observed when using it for ‘lip plumps’.
Below is an extract from ‘The Mail on Sunday’ after an investigator had completed a course of Fillerina:
For an independent opinion, I had my skin assessed before and after at the Santi Skin Lab in South Kensington, Central London (santilondon.com). Staff used a Cortex machine, state-of-the-art skin analysis equipment which is used in dermatological research worldwide.
I thought my skin was looking good, but what the Cortex machine told me was little short of amazing.
‘There is a remarkable change in skin structure,’ said Tariq Karim, director of Santi Skin Lab. ‘The skin on the forehead shows a considerable improvement.’
The hydration level of my skin increased by a huge 29 per cent from the starting point.

June - when you can take your dog to work for a day.
The Latin name for June is Junius. Most say the month is named after the Roman goddess Juno, wife of the supreme deity Jupiter. She was the goddess of marriage and a married couple’s household. It was therefore considered good luck to get married in ‘her’ month. There is an alternative suggestion that the name comes from the Latin word iuniores, meaning "younger ones", as opposed to maiores ("elders") for which the preceding month May(Maius) may be named.
June’s birth flowers are the rose or the honeysuckle and birthstones the pearl, the moonstone, and the Alexandrite which all symbolize health and longevity. The zodiac signs for the month of June are Gemini (until June 21) and Cancer (June 22 onwards).
Some quite interesting facts about June:
Pixie Day is a tradition that takes place in Ottery St. Mary annually, dating from 1954, and based on a pamphlet written by R. F. Delderfield for the 500th anniversary of the installation of the bells of the Church of St. Mary, the event commemorates a legend of Ottery St. Mary's 'pixies' being banished from the town (where they caused havoc) to a local cave known as 'Pixies' Parlour'.
International Yoga Day is celebrated annually on June 21 and was declared to be internationally recognized by the United Nations General Assembly in 2014.
Friday 24th June 2016 is ‘Take your dog to work day’. (See Facebook)

Rough winds do shake the Darling Buds of May
May is the fifth month of the year in both the Julian and Gregorian Calendars and one of seven months which have 31 days. In any given year, May is the only month that can start and end on the same day of the week. May is a spring month in the Northern Hemisphere and Autumn in the Southern Hemisphere. The month May was named after the Greek goddess of fertility Maia, mother of the god Hermes, in Latin, the name was Maius. There was a less romantic but more practical English name for the month; it was called Thrimilce because, in the long, spring days, cows could be milked three times between sunrise and sunset.
Other quite interesting facts about May:
• May's birthstone is the emerald which is emblematic of love and success and the birth flower is the Lily of the Valley.
• In 1644 maypoles were banned in England as a 'heathenish vanity'. Local officials who defiantly put them up could be fined five shillings a week; equivalent to about £3,000 today.
• According to an old Cornish superstition, it was unlucky to buy a new broom in May - and so was washing a blanket!
• Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May, and summer's lease hath all too short a date. ― William Shakespeare (Sound Familiar?)
• In response to the first of May being Labour Day, the first World Tramps Congress in Argentina in 1966 named the second of May as International Day of Idleness.
• It was once believed that if you got up on the first of May and washed your face in the May dew, it would remove all freckles and pimples, giving you a great complexion.
• In the United Kingdom May is celebrated as National Smile Month
So, as you have missed the first of May, we at The Chase CACI Clinic are perfectly placed to give you a great complexion; utilising our services and products, to help celebrate National Smile Month.
We have our two wonderful CACI machines which use modern non-invasive technology to stimulate those tired muscles after the cold, wet, miserable winters days which really don’t give anyone cause to smile. Our Radio Frequency Machine will stimulate the production of Collagen to plump out the wrinkle lines and help minimise their visibility. April is here and what are we all wary of?
April Fool's Day of course!
But where did the tradition arise? The custom of setting aside a day for the playing of harmless pranks upon neighbours is recognized everywhere. Some precursors of April Fools' Day include the Roman festival of Hilaria, the Holi festival of India, and the Medieval Feast of Fools. Geoffrey Chaucer's The Canterbury Tales (1392) contains the first recorded association between 1 April and foolishness; so once again there is nothing new. One of the most famous ‘April Fools’ day pranks was perpetrated by that most august organisation - The BBC. In 1957, they broadcast a film in their Panorama current affairs series purporting to show Swiss farmers picking freshly-grown spaghetti, in what they called the Swiss Spaghetti Harvest. The BBC were later flooded with requests to purchase a spaghetti plant, forcing them to declare the film a hoax on the news the next day.
April is another month with a great deal of symbolism, being the first month of Spring, but why ‘April’? The Romans gave it the Latin name Aprilis but the derivation of this name is uncertain. The traditional etymology is from the verb aperire, "to open", in allusion to its being the season when trees and flowers begin to "open", which is supported by comparison with the modern Greek use of άνοιξη (ánixi) (opening) for spring. Since some of the Roman months were named in honour of divinities, and as April was sacred to the goddess Venus, it has been suggested that Aprilis was originally her month Aphrilis, from her equivalent Greek goddess Aphrodite. The Anglo-Saxons called April ēastre-monaþ. The Venerable Bede says in The Reckoning of Time that this month ēastre is the root of the word Easter.
So are you ready to leave the dull and dismal days of winter behind and welcome your own personal ‘opening’? We at The Chase CACI Clinic are perfectly placed to help you, both in physical location plus the services and products we can offer.

You would be mad not to visit us in March
How did we get here so quickly? It does not seem like five minutes since we were celebrating Christmas and now we are in March! ‘March’ comes from Latin ‘Martius’, the first month of the earliest Roman calendar, since the Romans originally considered winter a monthless period. It was named after Mars, the Roman god of war who was also regarded as a guardian of agriculture and an ancestor of the Roman people through his sons Romulus and Remus. His month Martius was the beginning of the season for both farming and warfare, and the festivals held in his honour during the month were mirrored by others in October, when the season for these activities came to a close. Martius remained the first month of the Roman calendar year perhaps as late as 153 BC, and several religious observances in the first half of the month were originally new year's celebrations.
March 1st began the numbered year in Russia until the end of the 15th century. Great Britain and its colonies continued to use March 25 until 1752, when they finally adopted the Gregorian calendar. Many other cultures and religions still celebrate the beginning of the New Year in March.
So, if your New Year’s resolutions have stalled, here is another opportunity to start your year! We are happy to help and are encouraging our clients to visit the ‘Healthy Living’ page on our website and take the free lifestyle analysis, there is then a complete range of products available to help with Detox or the ‘Healthy Starter’ pack, plus many more. These success stories are run monthly in the ‘Guild News’ which is the UK's Highest Circulating Beauty Trade Magazine. ‘This series of success stories started in January of last year and is planned to continue throughout 2016 as a way to showcase and inspire other CACI salons owners’. The Clinic is also featured in the March Edition of Greater Birmingham Chamberlink magazine.
We have two CACI Machines – ‘The Ultimate’ and ‘The Quantum’ which can be used in differing ways. They can be used in conjunction with our Radio frequency machine to enhance results, add to these the Heaven’ products and you can see why we are achieving such impressive outcomes. In addition, we have the ‘Apilus’ machine which is used for hair, skin tag and milia removal, to complete the stable, we have a facial steamer!

The Accolades continue
The New Year has passed and we are now into February, a month that is often overlooked other than in a leap year (which 2016 of course is) and Valentine’s Day. But, when we look a little more deeply into history, February has its own intriguing past.
The Roman month Februarius was named after the Latin term februum, which means purification, via the purification ritual Februa held on February 15 (full moon) in the old lunar Roman calendar. January and February were the last two months to be added to the Roman calendar, since the Romans originally considered winter a monthless period. They were added in about 713 BC. February remained the last month of the calendar year until around 450 BC, when it became the second month. There are some other Quite Interesting facts about February: in leap years, it is the only month that ends on the same weekday it began. Having only 28 days in common years, it is the only month of the year that can pass without a single full moon. This last happened in 1999 and will next happen in 2018.
We at The Chase CACI Clinic would like to help with that ‘Purification’ and are encouraging our clients to visit the ‘Healthy Living’ page and take the free lifestyle analysis, there is then a complete range of products available to help with Detox or the ‘Healthy Starter’ pack, plus many more. You can order directly from the website or by phone, alternatively you could discuss the options with your therapists when you next visit.
We have now made ‘Monday’ – ‘Manday’ where men are encouraged to visit us and experience the benefit they can get from having both CACI treatments and using ‘Heaven’ men’s products. In addition, we are offering romantic ‘His and Hers Facials’ for February in honour of Valentine’s Day; relax side by side on your own treatment couch and each enjoy one of our marvellous facials. It does not get much better!
We felt very privileged in December to be invited to the 20th Annual Awards dinner held by ‘Heaven by Deborah Mitchell’ and were absolutely thrilled to be presented with ‘The Best Newcomer Award’ by Deborah herself. This was in recognition of the results being achieved at The Chase CACI Clinic by the innovative use of CACI treatments and Heaven products in our combination therapies.
We were then amazed in January when the accolades continued: The Chase CACI Clinic has been selected as ‘a top performing CACI salon to be interviewed and featured in the beauty industry’s premier trade magazine as a way of showcasing the success of the salon and promoting their story’. These success stories are run monthly in the ‘Guild News’ which is the UK's Highest Circulating Beauty Trade Magazine. ‘This series of success stories started in January of last year and is planned to continue throughout 2016 as a way to showcase and inspire other CACI salons owners’. A wonderful first birthday present
The Clinic marked its first year of providing treatments for clients with a party on December 1st. Visitors were treated to festive nibbles and Bucks Fizz as a ‘thank you’ for being part of a successful and enjoyable twelve months.
Then, on December 6th Pam Smith attended the ‘Heaven by Deborah Mitchell’ 20th Anniversary Awards Evening at the very impressive new Genting Hotel at the NEC. The awards were presented to businesses and individuals from around the Country and indeed from across the Globe in several categories. Pam, her husband Doug and colleague Becky Stevens with her partner Ad were thoroughly enjoying being a part of the truly inspirational evening and meeting some extremely successful people. The award for ‘Best Newcomer’ was announced and to her absolute amazement it went to Pam and The Chase CACI Clinic. The award was in recognition of the innovative use of ‘Heaven’ products in conjunction with the CACI machines and other equipment at the Clinic to produce outstanding results for clients.
This can only bode well for the future of the clinic; Pam Smith says ‘We have had a wonderful first year and are looking forward to providing more treatments and services to our clients in 2016’.

'Stepping from one year into the next with a smile'

The last month of one year and the first month of the next are both filled with celebration, reflection and optimism.
December is the month where Christmas is the main focus. The history surrounding Christmas is fascinating. In Roman times the upper classes often celebrated the birthday of Mithra, god of the unconquerable sun, on December 25th. They believed that Mithra, an infant god, was born of a rock. For some, Mithra’s birthday was the most sacred day of the year. In early Christianity, Easter was the main holiday; the birth of Jesus was not celebrated.
Julius Caesar instituted a calendar centered round the sun decreeing that one year would consist of three hundred and sixty-five and a quarter days. Unfortunately, despite the introduction of leap years, the Julian calendar overestimated the length of the year by eleven minutes and fifteen seconds. By the sixteenth century the calendar was ten days out. In 1582 Pope Gregory XIII lopped the eleven minutes fifteen seconds off the year and deleted the spare ten days. This new Gregorian calendar was adopted throughout Catholic Europe, however, Protestant Europe kept to the old Julian calendar. This meant that London was a full ten days ahead of Paris.
Eventually a Calendar Act was passed in 1751 which stated that in order to bring England into line with the rest of Europe (sound familiar?), the day following September 2nd 1752 was to be called the 14th, rather than the 3rd. Before the calendar was reformed, England celebrated Christmas on the equivalent of the 6th of January by our modern, Gregorian reckoning. That is why in some parts of Great Britain people still call the 6th of January, Old Christmas Day.
At The Chase CACI clinic we are celebrating the first year of providing clients with the best that our machines, products and care can provide. During this time, we have met a wonderful, interesting and very loyal group of people.
January is a time for both reflection and optimism. The Romans dedicated New Year's Day to Janus, the pagan god of gates, doors, and beginnings, after whom the first month of the year, January, is named. The pagan deity Janus was depicted as having two faces: one looking forward, the other backward, suggesting that celebrations of the new year are pagan traditions.
We are all aware that a New Year is celebrated on many different days throughout the World but is might surprise you to know that in the Gwaun Valley, Pembrokeshire, Wales the new year is celebrated on January 13, based on the Julian calendar.
At The Chase CACI Clinic we are looking forward to a wonderful 2016 whilst looking back on 2015 and the amazing experience it has been; we can reflect on very satisfying results and positive feedback. It has been an absolute pleasure to meet and help people from such diverse areas and ages. We are very proud of our 90% retention rate for clients but will be looking to improve on that in 2016. Laurels are for winning not resting on!
New to our team is Heather Groom RGN, a Nurse with over 30years experience, a friendly personality and a genuine desire to help clients look and feel good. In addition, our new CACI Quantum machine is now fully on stream and producing some incredible results.
So whether you are in our Electrolysis Room, Ultimate Room or the Quantum Room a member of our dedicated team will ensure that you get the best possible outcome whilst enjoying our quiet and serene atmosphere. Thank you for your support!

'Winter Draws on'

The Autumnal Equinox (equal night) when day and night are about equal length took place on September 23rd. This phenomenon has always been celebrated by Religions and Pagans across the globe, in Roman times celebrations were dedicated to Pomona the goddess of fruit and growing things. We then head towards the Winter Solstice (Sun and Still) on the shortest day of the year December 21st. This has also been a time for great celebration historically; many cultures see it as a time of rebirth. During this transition days get shorter and weather gets colder; both of which, added to modern living, less than healthy eating and alcohol consumption, can leave us feeling lethargic, lacking motivation and unfit.
The Nature’s Sunshine page on our website is a great starting point to redress the balance – take the free online Lifestyle Analysis and learn which of your bodies systems would benefit from additional support. The ‘Healthy Starter’ options will complement the CACI facial and body toning treatments. Capitalise on this opportunity to reinforce your immune system and help it to deal with the challenges of modern living.

The Heaven range of products will also help protect your skin against the ravages of the winter climate for which this country is so well known.
The feedback from clients on the results achieved with our CACI Ultimate machine has been so overwhelmingly positive that we have explored other possibilities within the CACI range to add to the services we can provide. The outcome of our research has led us to add a CACI Quantum machine to our stable of superb equipment.
The CACI Quantum machine provides a comprehensive package of facial and body toning treatments. Incredible results are achieved by the use of Faradic technology which uses a higher intensity output than microcurrent stimulation, and so is ideal for firming and toning the larger body muscles. The current is delivered in a series of short pulses through conductive pads that are positioned over specific muscle groups. As the current passes through the pads it stimulates involuntary muscle contractions thereby passively exercising and toning the muscles, for example a typical 20 minute stomach treatment is the equivalent of doing 300 perfect sit ups.

The CACI Quantum also offers Lymphatic Drainage treatments, this is a therapeutic massage treatment using light pressure with long, gentle, rhythmic strokes to increase lymphatic flow and remove toxins from your body. Lymph is an essential fluid that flows around your body, carrying white blood cells and antibodies, which are an integral part of your immune system helping you fight infection, to your tissues and organs. Every day, we consume toxins in a multitude of differing ways; eating badly, living in polluted environments, drinking too much alcohol, having a high sugar intake – the list is endless. Adding these to an unhealthy lifestyle may results in the Lymphatic system being unable to cope with its task of flushing all the toxins away to keep you healthy. The use of Lymphatic drainage massage will assist in the flow of lymph around your body, taking some of the strain from your immune system and helping to effectively eradicate toxins.
The time is now right to stand back and take a look at our lifestyle with a view to greeting the Vernal Equinox next spring and moving towards the Summer Solstice with a healthy body and face. For many centuries man has looked forward to spring as a time of great joy. We at The Chase CACI Clinic are here to help you in your desire to look feel the best you can in 2016.

Your skin matters to us

In the last edition we looked very briefly at the concept of:
‘Sana in corpore sano faciem’ – ‘a healthy face on a healthy body’
The question is how do we achieve this? We are all subject to mental and physical pressures, both of which affect how we look and feel. In addition, we are surrounded by many differing pollutants which can have a serious, negative effect on the skin.
A balanced nutritious diet and regular skin care regime using the best products are an essential basis if you wish to keep your face healthy.
At The Chase CACI Clinic we use and sell only the very best facial products. The ‘Heaven’ Range by Deborah Mitchell contains only the finest ingredients and we are finding the results are everything they claim. We are happy to order anything you require from the ‘Heaven’ range.
The Nature’s Sunshine Healthy Living Products also contain only the top grade constituents, again we are getting very positive feedback from clients who are using them. The products can be ordered on our dedicated website page.
There is an increasing range of treatments available to complement a healthy diet and good skin care regime to ensure that your features remain healthy and radiant.
The CACI machine makes use of micro currents which make the muscles toned and give the skin a healthy glow. The CACI microdermabrasion treatment makes use of a gentle but effective silicon abrader which removes the dead cells on the surface of the skin.
The Overline Radio Frequency machine reaches deeper into the dermal layer of the skin and encourages Collagen to regenerate.
The Apilus Electrolysis machine is best known for being the only permanent method of hair removal. However, it can do much more including the removal of thread veins, skin tags and milia.
To ensure clients receive the maximum benefit from treatments, The Chase CACI Clinic also makes use of a Facial Steamer to ‘deep clean’ congested skin, when appropriate. Facial steaming has been used for many years to treat the skin. To this day some people simply steam their face above a bowl of hot water with a towel over the head. Steaming can help keep the skin healthy by opening up the pores and removing oil and blackheads to help prevent skin irritation and acne. Visible skin is dead skin; to produce new skin, cells divide in a process called mitosis. When they are new, skin cells are plump and firm. By the time they reach the uppermost layer of skin, the cells are flat, hard and dead. They are bound to each other and to the living tissue below via a type of cellular cement. As people age, however, they do not shed the dead cells as quickly, and skin begins to look old, depleted and tired. Steam helps loosen the cellular cement that binds too many dead skin cells to the surface of skin. The action of steaming increases blood flow and circulation which can help tired skin look more youthful.
By using the appropriate combination of equipment and facial products in conjunction with a healthy diet you and The Chase CACI Clinic can work together to ensure that your face has the best possible protection against the traumas of life in the 21st Century.
Why wait, give us a ring or visit our website (details opposite) to arrange your free consultation and take that first step towards:
‘Sana in corpore sano faciem’ – ‘a healthy face on a healthy body’
Remember you are never too young or too old to start looking after your skin.

Opening of The Chase CACI Clinic

The Chase CACI Clinic will open officially on July 9th. To mark the occasion we are holding a launch event which will include demonstrations of the very latest CACI techniques and equipment. We shall also be introducing the CACI home system which is developed to be used at home to enhance the results of CACI clinic based treatments. The event is by invitation only; we have a couple of spaces left, so if you would like to join us please feel free to use our contact page to get in touch

Aesthetic Treatments: How you can make them last longer

To date we have looked at Beauty/Aesthetics through the ages, how our machines work and what treatments we can offer to help you achieve your desired result.

But what happens when you leave the clinic after your treatment? What can you do to help preserve the results that our treatments have produced? The most obvious way is to book regular (usually monthly) ‘top ups’. This will allow our practitioners to maintain and improve upon the initial results. However there is much more you can do.
The skin is a good external indicator of health. To maintain that ‘healthy glow’ eating well is essential. The modern lifestyle can make this very difficult, years ago, before the advent of fast/convenient food, the ingredients of our meals were generally simple and nutritious. In the 21st Century our intake of chemicals, food additives, preservatives and colouring agents has changed this dramatically. The skin is now subject to far more harmful environmental pollutants than ever before plus the everyday stress of modern life.
So what can you do to help reduce these effects? The main areas which have an impact are: a good skin care regime, a balanced nutritious diet and continued treatments.
There is a skin product to suit most skin types; The Chase CACI Clinic can carry out a free skin analysis using a ‘Wood’ lamp, with the result being recorded on the universally accepted ‘Fitzpatrick Scale’ for identifying skin types. You can then choose from the finest products to suit your skin. We recommend Deborah Mitchell ‘Heaven’ Bee Venom range and the ‘Arbonne’ range of products. These two ranges are both extremely effective and ethically produced. For more details please consult your practitioner when you visit.
The balanced nutritious diet can be more difficult to achieve, with so many of the pressures of life getting in the way. ‘The need for speed’ has extended to the kitchen and dining room. If we take the time to stop and analyse our lifestyle we almost invariably fall short in several areas of nutrition. Don’t Panic - Help is available! Visit the ‘Nature’s Sunshine’ page on our website and take the free online ‘Lifestyle Analysis’. Answer all the questions honestly and the results are always informative. You can then choose to either order the products online, or discuss them with your practitioner when you visit.
Finally, there is a fabulous hand held CACI machine available to purchase for use at home, to continue the wonderful work done by your practitioner at The Chase CACI Clinic. This is an easy to use device that allows you to ensure that all the treatments you receive from us have the maximum possible effect. Please ask your practitioner for more information.
This may all seem a little daunting but can be incorporated into your daily life with ease. The three pronged approach to skin care, nutrition and home treatments will leave you feeling and looking better.

Aesthetic treatments in 2015
Health and beautification rituals are being taken much more seriously and many people now seek professional treatments to help them look their best. This concentration on our appearance is hardly anything new as the beauty industry has been expanding and growing since recorded history began.
People may be unhappy with aspects of their appearance but not ready to opt for a more invasive cosmetic treatment, a vast array of treatment options exists to help them put their best face forward. With an undeniable pressure to look better and younger for longer, there is no surprise that more and more people continue to embrace aesthetic treatments for personal improvement. Their motivation may be a job promotion, to appear their best on social media websites or merely to feel more confident. Programmes such as ‘Ten Years Younger’ have alerted people to what is achievable and also added credibility and made treatments more socially acceptable.

Society is now becoming more tolerant of people choosing to undertake not only cosmetic surgery but also non - invasive aesthetic treatments. These treatments can be administered by Doctors, Nurses and other suitably qualified therapists. There are over 4,000 nurses who administer aesthetic treatments.

To ensure that the highest standards are maintained to protect clients the Keogh Report (2013) looked into cosmetic treatments (in particular Botox and Fillers) to regulate their administration and ensure better procedures and thus safety. One interesting fact to emerge was that, according to the report, 41% of girls aged seven to 10 and 63% aged 11 to 16 said they felt some pressure to look the way celebrities do. The review wants tougher controls over "highly misleading" advertising and marketing practices, warning that "before and after" pictures can be digitally enhanced. This places a burden on the shoulders of all Aesthetic Practitioners to act responsibly and ethically, which I am sure we all agree is essential.

The improvements in equipment, knowledge and standards over the last few years have all contributed to the world of Aesthetic treatments becoming a safer place to visit.

The Chase CACI Clinic is firmly committed to providing the highest level of care and standards of treatment using the very latest technology and knowledge allied with the finest products. 'Putting your best face forward'
Why striving to look and feel your best is nothing new.

We are treated to airbrushed pictures of celebrities in a myriad of different publications on a daily basis. Many other areas of the media condemn the ‘modern obsession’ with looks.

But is it anything new? Had Facebook and Twitter, OK and HELLO magazines existed in Greek and Roman times what would they have said and promoted? A brief trip back in time reveals that many social commentators expressed similar opinions to those being voiced today.
he Roman Poet Ovid wrote in ‘The Art of Beauty’: Thus then let every woman strive to look her best. It matters not how love shall spread its lure. Tasteful simplicity no one can find fault with. There are women who, though buried in the country, are yet most careful about their hair. Even if rugged Athos should hide them from view, they would dress well-for Athos. They even take a pleasure in dressing to please themselves and every young girl loves to make the most of her attractions. Later when looking at the ageing process he wrote: Your first preoccupation, my dears, should be your manners. When a woman’s manners are good, she never fails to attract. Manners indeed are more than half the battle. Time will lay waste your beauty, and your pretty face will be lined with wrinkles. The day will come when you will be sorry you looked at yourself in the mirror, and regret for your vanished beauty will bring you still more wrinkles. But a good disposition is a virtue in itself, and it is lasting; the burden of the years cannot depress it, and love that is founded on it endures to the end.

The Greek Philosopher Plato was a little more abrupt when he was less than complimentary in referring to the transience of beauty: “Evil is the vulgar lover who loves the body rather than the soul, inasmuch as he is not even stable, because he loves a thing which is in itself unstable, and therefore when the bloom of youth which he was desiring is over, he takes wing and flies away, in spite of all his words” and promises; whereas the love of the noble disposition is life-long, for it becomes one with the everlasting.”

This balanced view of ‘Beauty’ is evident in most societies throughout history.

The huge technological and scientific advances that have been made over recent years help us (female and male) preserve our looks. Wrinkles can be reduced; the ravages of time and the ‘dirty’ modern world that we inhabit can be mitigated to a high degree.

We spend huge amounts of money at gyms to make our bodies fit and healthy then cover them up for most of the year. Our faces are permanently on display; surely we should devote a little more time and effort to make them fit and healthy too?

The Chase CACI Clinic has invested in the very latest equipment to help our clients take care of their faces:
The CACI machine offers a range of different options from a jowl lift to a luxurious full face treatment plus Microdermabrasion, which is a crystal free treatment. By using the very best of products during treatments, results are maximised. The Apilus XCell Pur is the very latest and most advanced machine of its type. We are fortunate to have only the third in the country and the first outside the South of England. This is not only the very best electrolysis machine available but can perform a range of other procedures for the face and body. To work in conjunction these two superb pieces of equipment we have a Synergy Radio Frequency and Light Therapy machine which helps with a range of skin problems including Acne and damaged Capillaries.

The Chase CACI Clinic provides a balanced approach, ensuring that all clients are given up to date information regarding available treatments in a caring and tranquil environment. The client then discusses a personal treatment plan with their practitioner to provide a mutually agreed outcome using the very latest equipment and techniques.
